Forms and Submissions
A project can double as a form. You lay the form out like any other Inkwell document — prose, headings, images — and drop input fields into it where you want answers. Respondents fill it in through a public link, and the answers come back to you as submissions.
This suits anything where the questions need context around them: a call for papers, a course assignment, an intake questionnaire.
Switching it on
Open Project Settings → General and turn on Form. Two entries appear at the top of the chapter list: Form and Submissions.
Adding fields
With the form enabled, an Insert Form Field button appears on the editor toolbar. Place the cursor where the answer should go and insert a field. Four kinds are available:
- Text Field — a single line.
- Multi-line Text Field — a paragraph or more.
- Dropdown — a fixed list of choices.
- Checkbox — a yes/no.
Give each field a name; that name becomes the column heading in the submissions table, so name them the way you want to read them later.
Publishing and sharing
The Form page shows the Submission URL — the public link respondents use — with a button to copy it to the clipboard. Send that link to whoever is filling the form in; they do not need an Inkwell account.
Click Publish to make the current version of the form live. Edits you make afterwards are not visible to respondents until you publish again, so you can revise a form in place without disturbing people who are part-way through.
Automatic grading
AI Grading Prompt on the same page is optional. If you write a prompt describing what a good answer looks like, each submission is scored from 0 to 100 against it automatically as it arrives. Leave it blank and no grading happens.
The score is a first pass to help you triage a large pile of submissions — it appears alongside each entry, and you can read the submission itself and disagree with it.
Reading submissions
The Submissions page is a table: one row per submission, with the Date it arrived, the Grade if grading is switched on, and one column for each of your form fields.
