Footnotes/Endnotes
To enter a footnote or endnote , place your cursor where you want to add the footnote, and click on the Insert Footnote icon. A box will pop up. Put your cursor inside the box and type your footnote, then click anywhere outside the box to insert your footnote.
Inkwell automatically adds the numbering and reorders any other footnotes if applicable.
To edit a footnote, click on the footnote number in the body text. The pop-up editing window will appear.
To delete a footnote altogether, place your cursor in the body text immediately before the footnote number. Use your delete key to delete the footnote number reference. Likewise, you can place your cursor immediately after the footnote reference number and use your backspace key to delete the footnote.
Under Global Settings there is a Footnote/Endnote section. Under the Layout settings:
Clearance: Amount of blank space between document and footnote
Gap: Amount of blank space between one footnote and the next
Indent: Amount of whitespace indenting each footnote
Placement: Where footnotes are placed, three options:
Footnote: at the bottom of the page
Chapter Endnote: at the end of the chapter
Book Endnote: In a separate section or chapter at the end of the book or article
Numbered by: Determines whether footnote numbers restart in each chapter or are continuous throughout the entire work.
Footnote style: Determine whether the footnote appears in the footer as a number or a superscript.
Footnote Superscript Baseline: determines the height of a footnote superscript
Footnote Superscript Gap: determines the space between the footnote number and the text of the footnote.
The Format section provides the same settings as a paragraph and determines the format of the content of the footnote.
Endnotes
There is no difference in the way that endnotes are inserted into the book or article, however, to view the endnotes, you must first insert a “Notes” section.
Navigate to the Chapters view along the left menu bar.
Click on the Insert button at the bottom of the Chapters List, then click Notes.
Inkwell will automatically configure your Notes section based on the settings that you have already defined. You’ll be able to edit the notes directly when the notes section is open in the editor.
