Math

You can insert inline math using the Inline Math button . Inline math displays in the normal flow of text. You can insert display math using the Display Math button . Display math appears on its own line and is used for equations. When a math equation is selected, a math toolbar will appear with a variety of options.

You can also type in a variety of other shortcuts like sin, cos, tan, epsilon, gamma, omega, sup, sub, and in to insert mathematical notation. LaTeX math syntax is also supported.

Display math equations are numbered. You can type “Equation” to get a dropdown of equations in your project. Once selected, Inkwell will keep the equation number up to date.

Global Settings includes a Math section with the following options.

Font: Font to use for Math. Regular Fonts cannot be used for Math, as Math fonts have special requirements. We supply a variety of Math fonts, one of which should be a good fit for your work.
Numbered By: Choose whether equations numbers restart in each chapter, or are continuous across the whole project.

Display Equations have a single property available in Local Settings: numbered. This can be used to disable the number for a particular equation.

To insert an Equation reference, type the word Equation, an autocomplete will appear allowing you to select which equation you want to reference. Inkwell will keep the reference up to date if equations are moved, removed, or otherwise rearranged.
